Land Acquisition - What and why the uproar ?

So, the current hot topic is Land Acquisition and everyone has chance to blame Modi again . Yayy. ( 2 minutes of silence for those people ) I had recent conversation with some of my vigil friends in office and I was amazed at their knowledge of the bill ( #sarcasm ). I knew few major points about the bill. But no details myself. Hence, I started reading about it. Her is what I have gathered: This is not a new Bill that BJP passed, the bill has been there for more than 100 years now. It was started as an Act by Britishers and continued by Congress. The links to earlier versions can be found here: http://dolr.nic.in/dolr/actandrule.asp An amendment to the bill was passed in 2013 by UPA. During whose rule lakhs of farmers committed suicide. This amendment or version was opposed by many of the leaders of UPA itself let alone anyone else. Here are the details of same among other information: http://navbharattimes.indiatimes.com/business/business-news/all-o...

PK – The controversy and politics around it

Disclaimer : This is not a movie review. I have reviewed the movie separately. If someone just wandered here looking for a review, please visit my review page: PK - Movie Review To be very honest, when I saw the movie, I had some strong feelings of both agreement and disagreement. And, that is the reason that I waited for a week before writing my views, as I did not want them to be biased based on my feelings. Here are the points that I believe are being debated and I have tried to put my unbiased opinion regarding the.  I ssues revolving around movie My interpretation of movie was that through lot of euphemisms and satire, the crux was that we should believe is one real god and not in the people who mislead people in the name of God; may it be any dharm (I have my reasons to hate the R word) Hindu, Muslim or Christian. Fair enough, but to portray this they showed the main villain to be a Hindu guru. Why would the director do that, when this same plot has ...

My experiments with chasing

Note: Comments between the stars are my thoughts.   Huff   Huff ...   * Just few more meters * the feeble voice in my head said * You can do it * Huff huff huff I was running or rather running late at my top speed (which is not too much in case you are wondering). All in all it was an average weekday morning for me, with me late for catching the company transport for work. Now, just to set background here, I used the usual company transport which used to take me from BTM Layout 2 to Electronics City via Bannerghatta Road in Bangalore. And this very day I was on my way to catch the very last bus for that route. So coming back to my exhausted self, around 50 meters ahead I saw my bus already there with last person boarding, i doubled my effort ( though my speed remained same i guess) waving my hands frantically trying to remember Kannada word for 'Stop'. Beads of sweat were now running from my forehead right into my eyes and my heart was bea...

Trip to Mekedatu - Travel Blog

Riders : Apurva, Gopi, Manu, Mohan, Neerja, Rupesh and Me. Destination : Meke datu, around 110 kms from Bangalore Vehicle : Tavera I was told the cab would pick me up from Udupi Garden at 7.20 am, so I reached there at 7:40 sharp and cab was right on time at 8:00. We all were together after a really long time and so the initial time passed in formal chit chat pertaining to wor kplace. Slowly, the talks shifted to more casual topics. By this time I had drifted to sleep. When I woke up, the city traffic was gone and our ca r wa s cruising on a narrow but smooth r oad. The buildings along the road were now replaced by small range of hills on one side, and a stream of endless fields on the other. The panorama was a refreshing change from city, w here you ar e always stuck in the quagmire of traffic and people. The silence around me (outside the car I meant, inside the high pitch laughter of girls was still reminding me of honking of city traffic), felt so soothing. It was now 10...

My Experiments with Dating

Note - The comments between asterisks are my thoughts, everything else happened for real. * Hi! Good to see you. How are you doing? Nah... Too boring Hi... you look ravishing!!! Too forward ... Hey!! You look great!!* Hmm ... Sounds better... I mused returning the stares of passersby, some of whom were already considering calling an ambulance while other calling the police. And frankly, I don't blame them, because I would have probably done the same if I see a person talking animatedly in the broad daylight at the crowded Rajiv Gandhi metro station. And before you guys start to question my sanity, let me clarify it's never easy to stay calm when you are going to meet a girl for the first time and that too, on a date. I know what you are thinking - What the hell? How can there be a date when he hasn't met the girl before?? Well that's another story, one which I will tell you sometime in future; but the shorter version is that, I got to know her through internet; and one...

My Experiments with Idly Sambhar

Note: Comments between the stars are my thoughts. beep beep Beep Beep BEep BEep BEEp BEEp BEEP BEEEP!! What the f***!!! There has to be some mistake. How can this stupid alarm be sounding on a Sunday morning?? I poked my head out of the blanket like a turtle, my hands searching for the source of that screeching noise that has so abruptly ended my torrid love affair with Katrina; or was it Deepika Padukone I was dreaming about; well it certainly doesn't matter now. Finally, I found my cell phone hidden under empty Lays packet and switched off the alarm, retracting my head back. I feel like I was missing something but what? And then it all came flooding back to me - "Beta, Mrs. Sharma's son is coming to B'lore." *Out of 234,567 cities in India, he chose B'lore. WHY? * "He doesn't know anyone there, poor little boy." *Poor!!! He has a PS3 mom... I don't even have a bloody PSP * "Can you pick him up from railway station and drop him off at h...
